On the occasion of the "Natures urbaines" exhibition, the Pavillon de l'Arsenal is offering families and children a tour of the exhibition to discover the social links between nature and the city, followed by a moss-painting workshop.
The workshop/visit of the Urban Natures exhibition invites children to explore the complexity of human relationships with nature, and how these have shaped urban and architectural forms throughout history; nature tidied up and controlled in royal parks and gardens, nature guaranteeing the good health of inhabitants in the curved and straight promenades of the Hausmannian city, nature cared for and maintained in the garden cities and park-cities of the 20th century, nature preserved and spontaneous in the biodiversity areas of the new ecological districts, nature controlled and cultivated in urban agricultural areas, and nature as a partner in today's fight against the effects of global warming and the preservation of quality of life in the city.
At the end of the visit, aware of the technical and social challenges of nature in the city, children are invited to take part in a unique plant experimentation workshop. Using the extraordinary recipe of "paint-foam that grows", they make living paint and paint a portrait illustrating an episode of their choice from the long history of the relationship between cities and nature. With a little care and love, after a few days the moss will grow into a living nature portrait!
