Specialised in architecture, urbanism and the city of Paris, the library renders available to all: books, specialised magazines, daily and weekly newspapers, thematic and geographic files. A fund of 70 000 photographies from 1940 to 1980 is also available for consultation.

THE DOCUMENTATION CENTRE
Here you can find books on Paris, its history and its newest urban and architectural news, the life in its arrondissements, the documents which detail the municipal decisions on Parisian developments. Also, there is a great selection of books on architecture and urbanism, monographs of architecture and buildings, books on the different departments and communes of the Paris region (Île-de-France) and of the “Grand Paris” itself. In this sense, the documentation centre is a true work tool. For the more curious or studious visitors, librarians are at your disposal to assist, offer their knowledge, and guide you in your researches.

Free consultation of the books, internet access on the desktop computers in situ, no loans, no photocopies.

THE DATA BASE

The data base holds the list of the books available in the documentation centre as well as a selection of articles from specialised magazines, concerning Paris and the Paris region (Île de France).
You may consult it online or on the premises. It is the ultimate tool to prepare your visit, any time of the day or night.

THE PHOTO LIBRARY

70 000 photographies dating from 1940 to 1980 that bear an invaluable witness to all the transformations and the diversity of faces of the past and present in Paris.
Black and white prints from 1940 to 1980, which are sorted by streets and by theme, are available for you to view.

Free admission
The photo library is open, only upon appointment, on Tuesdays from 1pm to 5:15pm and Thursdays from 1pm to 6:15pm
Research is carried out with the help of a librarian.
The entrance is on the second floor, starting from the exhibition hall.
The photos may be duplicated digitally and in high definition (600 dpi, tiff or jpeg format).
Each copy has a cost of 7 euros per photo.
The copies are delivered a week after the order is put in.
The photos are copyright-free if you wish to publish them.
