" (...) I imagined creating a public area that would transition from the Châtelet-Les-Halles underground station all the way to public space in Paris. But here there's something particular, that being its verticality."

It starts 14 meters deep, the former patio, which was reworked and widened in vase-like shape to enable an ascent, upwards to Paris, onto a 95 meter opening on the garden side, which also frees up an east-west perspective 450 meters in length.
