For this evening, Bijoy Jain and Juliette Lecorne will continue the conversation they started with the exhibition Bijoy Jain / Studio Mumbai, Le souffle de l'architecte, presented at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, and will extend their exploration of the links between art, architecture, space and matter.

Bijoy Jain's work reflects a deep concern for the relationship between man and nature, in which time and gesture are essential factors. At the Fondation Cartier, Bijoy Jain offers a total creation: a space for reverie and contemplation in dialogue with Jean Nouvel's iconic building.

BIOS

Born in 1965 in Mumbai, India, Bijoy Jain, founder of Studio Mumbai, holds a Master's degree in Architecture from Washington University, St. Louis, USA (1990). After working in Los Angeles and London, he returned to India in 1995 and set up Bijoy Jain & Associates the following year. In 2005, the architect changed his production model and founded Studio Mumbai, a human-scale infrastructure where architects and craftsmen work between tradition and modernity, using local resources. He sees architecture as a means of communication between culture and time.
Bijoy Jain has taught at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, the Yale School of Architecture in New Haven and the Accademia di Architettura of the Università della Svizzera italiana in Mendrisio, Switzerland. His work has been exhibited worldwide, including at the Venice Architecture Biennale (2010 and 2016) and the Chicago Architecture Biennale (2017).
Studio Mumbai has received numerous awards, including the Dean's Medal from Washington University in St. Louis (2021), the Alvar Aalto Medal (2020), the Grand Gold Medal from the Academy of Architecture (2014), the BSI Swiss Architectural Award (2012), the Spirit of Nature Wood Architecture Award, presented in Finland (2012), and the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture (2009). Studio Mumbai was also a finalist for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2010.

Juliette Lecorne is curator at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain in Paris.
She is a graduate of the Institut national d'histoire de l'art and the École du Louvre, and took part in the Conservateurs du Patrimoine competitive examination. She was assistant curator at the Centre Pompidou and FRAC Île-de-France before joining the Fondation Cartier in 2019. 
She is co-curator of exhibitions such as Trees in Paris and Shanghai in 2019-2020, Claudia Andujar, La Lutte Yanomami in 2020, Les Vivants in Lille, in 2021. She was associate curator of the exhibition Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori in 2022 and Bijoy Jain / Studio Mumbai, Le souffle de l'architecte in 2023, in Paris.
Specializing in contemporary art, she also has an independent curatorial practice and contributes to various journals and publications.
