Presentation of competition
An original competition for a shared ambition
On the occasion of the complete moving of its activities on the territory of Paris-Saclay, the Paris ( ECP ) École Centrale made a commitment in an original scientific and human approach and posted its will of opening to the others, of cooperation, while keeping its identity and its values. To answer these stakes, it developed a project of School of tomorrow, strong of an innovative pedagogy, amplified synergies between research and education, which leans on the values of hybridization, serendipity, density, adaptability, diversity, temporality.
From its part, the Public institution Paris-Saclay ( EPPS), the planner of the site, carries strong stakes for the campus, which pass by the intensification of the exchanges, and thus by the urban coeducation. In the district Joliot-Curie, the challenge so is to transform a set of big establishments, relatively isolated, in a real accessible, open and alive campus, offering all the friendlinesses of a city district (businesses, public places, services), places of associative, sports, productive and entertaining university life opened to all, but also spaces for the innovative companies, in a report calmed with the nature.
The setting-up) of the School in this district, has to allow, through a harmonious insertion in an alive and compact district, to forge links with the existing, to offer to all the users of the campus of the mutualized spaces opened on the public place.
By crossing these approaches and this common ambition of opening and exchanges, the Paris École Centrale and the Public institution Paris-Saclay made a commitment in an approach innovative collaborative to allow a harmonious insertion of the future School in a mixed and compact district. Both actors joined to throw a mixed competition articulating architectural conception of the first part of the École Centrale Paris, the overall view for the School, and urban conception of the district Joliot-Curie
