Berlin : architecture and utopia

01 September 1989 - 01 December 1989 Scientific curator and scenography : Kristin Feireiss, architect

This exhibition was presented in the context of friendly cooperation agreements between Paris and Berlin, Europe's cultural capitals in 1989 and 1988.

Forty architects from ten different countries, some established international names and some younger, presented their visions of the Berlin of the future. The unique feature and originality of this exhibition was the great freedom given to the designers in choosing the site and the medium of presentation (plans, models, paintings, drawings, sculptures, etc.). The aim of the exhibition was to present new architectural and planning concepts aimed at the future, that result from Berlin's particular cultural, geographical and political situation, in both parts of the city. Therefore it consisted in exploring new paths and regenerating reflection on the city.
