This exhibition took an original, surprising, serious and humorous look at a fascinating secret subject, the underground world.
The Pavillon de l'Arsenal found that it was interesting to explore this dark omnipresent world that we cross in our daily journeys through the city, in all its possible aspects: technical, historical, scientific, poetic, etc.
But, rather than choose a very "hierarchical" presentation, the Pavillon de l'Arsenal wanted this journey of exploration to be a series of unpredictable, surprising emotions, just like our peregrinations through the city.
To enter the exhibition proper, an infrared audio headset system enabled the visitor to enter not only the visual underground world, but also to be immersed in its sound space, which could be broken down, sound by sound, so that each place presented in the exhibition could have a corresponding commentary, a piece of music, or a noise. Most of the information was given through this medium, and the exhibition displays were there to recreate the visual atmosphere of each place realistically, or sometimes in an abstract manner, and sometimes with a few humorous allusions.
