This exhibition showed the quality, variety and multiplicity of buildings that use brick in a hidden or clearly visible manner.
A photographic report presented a series of completed buildings that tell the life story of a material, its appearances and disappearances, and its contribution to the history of a city.
The exhibition was designed according to three principles:
The material, its uses and its colors were presented along brick walls built specially for the exhibition by the Compagnons du Devoir that also acted as supports for hanging the illustrations.
Six large showcases presented samples of bricks from France and abroad.
The illustrations traced the history of brick through the various buildings exhibited.
Photographs on large suspended sheets presented some outstanding examples of foreign brick architecture.
