After "Iron in Paris", "Brick in Paris", and "Wood : essences and senses", the "Paris Under Glass - The City and Its Reflections" exhibition completed the history of materials used in Parisian architecture.
It was organized around 4 topics : "Home lighting" devoted to the evolution of openings in constructions, from the first opening allowing light to penetrate to the very frequent use of curtain walls today.
The second part, entitled "Glass : the enveloping material", was devoted to the various uses of the material for pavement, tinted glass, serigraphy, reflecting glass and many other derivatives enabling light and views to be captured, filtered and controlled.
The third part dealt with "Transparency" and the play of reflections resulting from the use of glass. Finally, "The City Under Glass" showed major constructions such as passages, greenhouses, railway stations as well as utopian projects that were never built.
In all, more than 170 constructions and projects were shown in the exhibition.
