" I am fascinated by aerial photos. The distance returns the abstract territory and this abstraction makes it understandable, readable and visible. Since the porthole, the landscape becomes a picture. This is obviously true for the natural landscapes. All the elements of the landscape are present and seem to follow a logic. The topography, the hydrography and the vegetation are a part of a system. It is also true for the constructed territories. The intervention of the man organizes the territory and reveals the landscape by opposition " - Bas Smets
