Transformation of the submarine public Base of Saint-Nazaire in space and place dedicated to the new expressions of art and music.

The rudimentary and intense nature of the existing is extended by elementary installations of another order. The program is established by two cultural facilities the LiFE and the VIP, an internal street crosses the Base and makes the connection between all the alveoli. The room of the emergent forms is a mono-space equipped with a minimal scenography. Being on the former stretch of water, the room can open towards the harbour pond by means of a main entrance in accordion. The equipment of the current musics, the VIP, occupies one of the "internal" volumes of the Base. A room of 600 squares, cubic and rudimentary volume, is completed by a metallic skeleton. This one shelters the bar, changing rooms and documentation center. The internal street, borrowing the former railroad track covers itself with a bright carpet. This "Gallery" in the cryptic atmosphere, connects the various existing and new places of the base. A staircase leaves the Gallery, crosses the roof and leads towards an experimental platform. A geodesic dome, got back on the Berlin airport of Tempelhof, serves as artistic "think tank"... - LINEN FINN GEIPEL + Giulia Andi architect and town planners
