Paris is in the process of inventing new forms of housing architecture. These collective buildings, some of which have already been delivered while others are still in the design phase, explore new urban situations and revisit traditional forms of habitat and construction. Some experiment with carbon-free construction techniques, while others envision how we will live tomorrow, questioning even the very notion of property.
The book Building better, living better aims to make these issues accessible to all, by presenting some sixty projects classified according to the questions they raise in everyday housing. Where to build the housing of tomorrow's Paris? Barracks, convents, garages, offices...is the building of the future already built? Is the building of the future already built? Can new land still be invented? How can we build better to consume less? Can we offer more outdoor space and remain sober? What does housing look like in an economy of sharing?
