THE VERTICAL PAVILION

28 June 2019 - 01 September 2019 Tuesdays to Fridays, 5:00-7:00 PM (except during exceptional events),
Saturdays and Sundays, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00-7:00 PM

Building on the success of its previous editions, the Pavillon de l’Arsenal is reinstalling the Vertical Pavilion on World Olympic Day 2019 in partnership with the French Mountaineering Federation (FFME). The spectacular 13-meter tall climbing wall is open all summer long to experienced climbers, amateurs, and beginners. Anyone can come climb to the top of the skylight in the main exhibition hall.

Inaugurated on the occasion of the World Olympic Days on June 22-23, 2019, the Vertical Pavillion is open from June 28 to September 1 to everyone ages 5 to 77, free and without enrollment, Tuesdays to Fridays from 5-7 PM and weekends from 11 AM to 7 PM.  The climbing is supervised by a professional monitor who will help everyone discover and improve their climbing, a new Olympic sport that will be instituted at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

Designed by the architectural and engineering firm of Carrière Didier Gazeau, the Vertical Pavilion is back in a revamped version with new routes for all skill levels; this year, there is also a highly technical route, a true challenge for all climbers!

Open until September 1, the Vertical Pavilion combines a discovery of the city with urban athletics. It includes a summer educational program for children enrolled in Parisian public recreation centers, organized with the support of the Office of School Affairs of the City of Paris. More than 2,000 children will have the chance to learn to climb and discover the sites of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games as they walk through the Pavillon de l’Arsenal’s permanent exhibition.

It’s all yours to climb!
