Considering Calais #5

PUBLIC WORKSHOP ON MARCH 22ND FROM 6:30PM TO 8:30PM
"The migrants and refugees contribute to the economic, cultural and social tissue of their host communities, that nevertheless see them more often as burdens rather than assets. Studies confirm that migration boosts the labour market and create new demands in terms of goods and services, while contributing to the innovation that feeds all urban centres.
The migrants and refugees may become key players in the development, growth, resilience and sustainability of cities and can serve as bridges between the destination cities and the cities of origin, thanks to their skills and their abilities as transnational merchants, commercial partners, philanthropists and investors”.
"Migration and refugees in urban zones", article 2 of Habitat III, Quito - October 2016, United Nations conference on sustainable urban housing and development, signed by France; amongst others.
